An Overview of Industrial Machine Oil

In Industry, products are produced and made on a large scale. It takes lots of energy and resources to provide the product and Industrial oil is one of the resources. The oils used in the industry have different texture and viscosity. However, the thickness of the oil is of various types, and it is used according to the productivity of the product.

For different industries, there are other types of oil, for example, crude oil, kerosene oil, White oil, Diesel, and more. All of them work differently on the products.

The viscosity is divided into light, medium, and heavy thickness depending upon their lubricating speed. The kinds of Industry where Industrial oil are used are:

  • Textile Industry

  • Sewing Industry

  • Metal Working

  • Steel Industry

  • Knitting Machine

However, this does not end here; there are more Industries where Industrial Machine oil is used.

Let’s know about more about Industrial Machine oil in this article:

As mentioned before in this article, there are different kinds of oil used in various places. Here are names of few oils:

Hydraulic Oil

Hydraulic oil is a different class of Hydraulic oil; it is used as a working fluid for Hydraulic Machines. Due to the continuous working of the hydraulic machine, it gets jammed, or for this purpose, hydraulic oil is used to put the oil in that machine for its proper functioning.

Usually, Hydraulic oil has low Pour points, which offers a high class of purity in the oil.

Fuel in Transportation

Everyone knows that to run the vehicles, it needs Fuel, that is petrol, diesel. Which oil is to be used with which transport depends upon the compatibility of the vehicle. Petrol and diesel have different boiling and melting points.

However, petrol and diesel are used only for the Fuel to run the vehicles. But there are more different types of oil which are used for the proper functioning of the machines. Some more types of oil are given as follows:

  • Compressor oil

Compressor oil provides better functioning of the compressor in the vehicle, and it also increases the stability and duration of the compressor. The excellent coordination between oil and machinery helps to function this more.

  • Cylinder oil

Nowadays there is more demand for cylinder oil than any other oil. Cylinder oil helps to keep the cylinder of the vehicle in proper function. Also the cylinder oils are available in different brands like Castrol, HP and more.

Turbine Oil

Turbine oils are used in industries to lubricate and give cooling effects to the heavy machinery. Turbine oils are used to enable the heavy machines to run smoothly without any trouble. It is used in industries for machines because they have an outstanding lubricating property. It makes them run recklessly for years and keeps them rust-free.

Benefits of using Turbine Oil

Turbines has outstanding oxidation properties and chemical stability.

Turbine oils have an equally proportional mixture of oxidation and rust inhibitors and also have resistance to foaming agents.

It has great emulsion to water and fast realizes of entrained gases which enhance the service life of the machinery.

Turbine has high viscosity which makes them suitable for use in industries.

Food Grade Oils

Food grade oils are used in food packaging industries. They are used as a lubricant in food processes and packaging, bottling and canning. It is applied to these packages with the help of spray, which forms layers over it and conserves it for a long time. It is colorless and odorless oil used with the majority of packaging such as metal, paper, plastic and rubber, etc.

Requirements that food grade lubrication has to meet in the food industry:

Food lubricants should be able to stand in high temperatures and also in the contested access of flour dust.

The food materials that are being packed must be alkaline or acidic and the lubricant should be inert so that it does not affect the quality and taste of the food.

Food lubricants should be able to suffer the heavy machinery while food processing and packaging.

While good packaging, the lubricant can get in direct contact with food so the food grade oil should be harmless, colorless, tasteless and odorless.

The lubricant should have long term effects so as to assure maximum productivity.

Heat transfer Oil

The heating techniques of solid, liquid and gaseous are used in industry indirectly. Heat transfer oil is the thermal carrier that takes the heat from the heat source and utilizes it where it is required. Though it has high cost and complexity in operating there are also many advantages of indirect heating by the heat transfer oil. The biggest advantage of heat transfer oil is that it enables you to avoid the direct contact with the heat source. It is also used for controlling the temperature and it also maintains uniformity.
